This innovative welding technology presents many advantages for the Canadian market. Considered to be the best process to weld aluminium, friction stir welding allows the welding of alloys which are known to be difficult to weld (2XXX, 7XXX series, etc). Not only does the process allow a significant weight gain, FSW is also cost-efficient and environmentally friendly. With the availability of rail-mounted gantry machines, the FSW process also allows to weld large parts (>20m).
